Winter Survival Guide: The Products I Can’t Live Without

The gadgets, products, and tricks that I use to comfort and boost myself during the long winter months.

I don’t know about you, but something happened when the clocks turned back…

It was like all joy had drained from my life, and every day became an endless slog. God bless those people living in Antarctica, where there’s no sun for months. I would literally die.

The change in the weather has put me into overdrive making sure that I pull out every single tool in my toolbox that makes me feel good, and I want to share that list with you too!

Below you’ll find my short and sweet winter survival guide. It’s good timing too because maybe some of these things will make it onto your Christmas list. Enjoy!

The Everyday Essentials

I was still in my PJs this morning, hair unbrushed when my son asked if I wanted to come along to his haircut. When your seventeen year old son wants you to come with him to something, the answer is – “yes of course I’ll get dressed in 60 seconds.” I put on my favorite Mother Jeans and Jenni Kayne Cashmere Sweatshirt and threw on some Sidney Garber Crescent Hoop Earrings.

For anyone who has a grandmother who would NEVER have left the house without her face on, that’s how I feel about earrings.

Earrings are my makeup. They make me feel dressed and powerful, even makeup free and wearing a sweatshirt. Especially these ones. They’re big but super light and are my favorite.

I don’t do a lot of makeup, but eyeliner is my jam. I found this Victoria Beckham one that screams: “I may be middle aged but I’m still hot as f*ck.”  Highly recommend.

Products That Make You Say Ahhhh

Lest you think that my whole wellness routine is jewelry and makeup, I do have some gadgets that are amazing.

I recently found this neck massage tool that gets into every spot in just the right way. I showed it to my dear friend Erika Bloom who is the smartest person I know about the body, and she loved it. If you’re serious about turning your health around by the way, her membership is the highest bang for buck, best quality offering out there. I’m always telling her to charge more given what she offers, but she continues to ignore my advice (with love – we are the dearest of friends).

Just to make things weirder, I will often lie on my biomat with my head on the Tri-Aid tool releasing trigger points in my scalp while simultaneously using the Therabody compression boots and the Hyperice Venom back heater. Vibration, compression, heat, pressure points all at the same time. Heaven.

My husband wasn’t sure about the Hyperice back pad until he recently saw some NBA players wearing them at the Knicks game. He was like, “Oh wait maybe you know what you’re talking about?” To which I replied, “Um yeah, I’m a wellness junkie I definitely do.”

The One Thing I Can’t Live Without

Last but not least, I have a thing for being monochrome. If you know me you know I don’t really wear color, and I don’t wear prints. I take my loungewear very seriously.

I may look crazy with all my gadgets on at the same time, but gosh darn it, I’m going to have a cute sweat-set on when I do it. Frank and Eileen is my go to for elevated loungewear. Again, if you know me you know this is my color. I love their shirts too. It’s about the way the button is placed to get just the right V and the quality of the cotton to make a button down shirt sexy not bulky. I’ve been a fan for a while but recently ran into the founder who is amazing and her business practices are sustainable, ethical and so evolved that I feel so good buying their products.

*If you’re wondering, none of this is paid. Much more fun to just share stuff I love and people I love with you.

Hope you get everything on your wishlist this holiday season!

Love, Vanessa
